National Park to Visit in Texas

What are some of the best hiking trails in Texas?

Texas is a beyond enormous place filled with all kinds of awesome things to do outside, and it’s no wonder that hiking is such a beloved pastime for so many Texans. As it turns out, Texas is home to some truly amazing trails and hikes, and it’s impossible to list them all in one short paragraph – but we do have a few favorites we’d like to mention! Some of the best hiking trails in Texas include the Guadalupe Peak Texas Highpoint Trail, which is at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. It's rated as hard, thanks to its incredible elevation gain and lots of cliffs and rocks to climb, but we swear all 8.1 miles of trail is worth it! Then, for waterfall fans, there’s the famous Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls via the Barton Creek Greenbelt, near Austin. That one is much, much easier to access and thus more popular for hikers of all skill levels. It’s a stunning Texan oasis with amazing trails, fascinating geology, and all the swimming holes you’ll ever need. Another great one is the Santa Elena Canyon Trail at Big Bend National Park. It’s one of the best hikes in Texas and, at just a mile and a half long, it’s great for most.

What are the best National Parks in Texas to visit?

Well, considering the great and giant state of Texas only has two National Parks, we say they’re both the best. They are Big Bend National Park, which is wonderful for landscape lovers and hikers with more than 100 miles of amazing hiking trails to adventure upon, and Guadalupe Mountains National Park, which is significant for the fact that it protects the most extensive Permian fossil reef in the world, and oh, there are some scenic views to boot. You’d think that with as much space as we’ve got in Texas, there would be many more National Parks, but there aren’t. If you ask us, though, that just makes the two we’ve got that much more special. Always remember, too, that it takes much more than just one day to explore those two parks, so plan on an adventure!
