The Best US Beaches Have Just Been Announced And You Might Be Surprised

It may be hard to believe, but beach season is just around the corner. America is fortunate enough to be positively swimming in amazing places to, well, swim. However, a few seaside spots are amazing enough to have made TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Awards 2019 list of the 25 best beaches in the U.S. Here are the results:

If you thought Hawaii was a shoo-in for the top spot, you're wrong! According to reviewers, Clearwater Beach in Florida is the best in the U.S. - although Hawaii's Ka'anapali Beach did come in second place. Panama City Beach, also in Florida, took the number three spot.

To compile this ranking of the best beaches in America for 2019, TripAdvisor looked at user ratings and reviews for all beaches across the country. That means the rankings are based on real feedback from sunbathers, surfers, and families that have actually visited and enjoyed these spots.

Of course, states that are famous for their world-class beaches dominated the list; however, there are a few in the line-up that may surprise you. Here’s the full break down:

1. Clearwater Beach, Florida
2. Ka‘anapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii
3. Panama City Beach, Florida
4. St. Pete Beach, Florida
5. Pensacola Beach, Florida
6. Siesta Beach, Florida
7. Hapuna Beach, Hawaii
8. St. Augustine Beach, Florida
9. Fort Lauderdale Beach, Florida
10. Driftwood Beach, Georgia
11. Cherry Grove Beach, South Carolina
12. Navarre Beach, Florida
13. Poipu Beach Park, Kauai, Hawaii
14. South Beach, Florida
15. Hollywood Beach, Florida
16. Coronado Beach, California
17. Wailea Beach, Maui, Hawaii
18. Ogunquit Beach, Maine
19. Newport Beach, California
20. Waikiki Beach, O’ahu, Hawaii
21. Coligny Beach, South Carolina
22. Manini’owali Beach (Kua Bay), Hawaii
23. Napili Beach, Maui, Hawaii
24. Race Point Beach, Massachusetts

Overall, Florida had 10 beaches make the list – four of which ranking in the top five – so if you’re a beach lover looking for your next seaside travel destination, the Sunshine State is an enticing choice. Of course, you can’t go wrong with Hawaii either, which had seven beaches among the top 25.
