If there’s one food item that nearly every resident of America can get behind, it’s pizza. You’d be hard-pressed to find a city without at least a handful of delicious pizzerias to choose from, and for that, we are truly thankful. But if you’re curious to find out which cities truly excel at this fine delicacy, we’ve got just the list for you. Here are a few of our favorite pizza cities in the U.S. (spoiler alert: New York and Chicago aren’t on the list!)
Everyone knows that Portland is a top destination for foodies, but few realize it has an incredible pizza scene also. For proof of this, look no further than Ken's Artisan Pizza. This classic pizzeria has a cult-like following, and as soon as you try the Margherita, you'll understand why.
You might be surprised to learn that Boston holds the title for some of America's best pizza, but it's entirely true. Head to Little Italy and try a square-shaped piece of pizza from Galleria Umberto, which is nothing short of an institution for pizza-loving locals.
Most think of barbecue and tacos when they think of the great city of Austin, but there's another food category that's thriving. Head to Home Slice Pizza, for example, where you can enjoy massive slices of authentic New York style pizza.
Don't be fooled by the slightly misshapen form of a Pepe's Pizza - people have sworn by this local pizzeria for decades. Pepe's is considered among the best pizzerias in the whole country, with its perfectly thin and slightly charred crust.
Last but certainly not least, we arrive at our fifth must-try destination for pizza lovers. San Francisco is renowned for all sorts of food varieties, so it's perhaps a bit unsurprising that they've got amazing pizza. Check out Del Popolo for Neapolitan style pizza that will make you think you've landed in Italy.
