Living in, or visiting, the Land of Waterfalls (a.k.a. North Carolina) is an adventure like no other for waterfall chasers who cherish the many hidden gems that trickle, pour, or cascade down the mountains in The Tar Heel State. In many places in the state, there are literally awe-worthy waterfalls right beside the highway; or better still, running underneath the highway as we drive over.
Other waterfalls are only a short and easy trek from where we leave our vehicle. Moore Cove Falls is one of those waterfalls worth chasing on the short 1.3 mile trail into the Pisgah Forest near Brevard.
Once on the trail, you won't do much of anything strenuous — unless you strain something gawking at the beautiful surroundings. A variety of bridges (some of them new this season!) and water crossings provide ample opportunity to stop and take in the soothing sounds of the water rushing beneath.
In a mere 20-30 minutes, Moore Cove Falls will come into view! This 50-foot spectacle hiding in the forest can be either pouring or a mere trickle, depending on how much rain the area has had in recent days.
