There’s something utterly whimsical about embarking on a train journey. Amtrak is widely known as one of the country’s most extensive and professional rail lines, offering service between cities throughout the United States. With the unveiling of its new Acela Nonstop route between New York City and Washington, D.C., Amtrak will enter a new era of convenience for travelers and long-distance commuters alike. If that weren’t enough, the addition of this nonstop route is accompanied by upgrades to other Amtrak trains, making it one of the all-around best train rides in the USA:
The Acela Nonstop route between the Big Apple and America’s capital city will commence service on September 23rd, 2019, initially offering one weekday service for travelers. With a ride time of just over two hours and 30 minutes each way, the train route will minimize headaches and streamline trips for those seeking easy access to either city without the numerous stresses of air travel.
In addition to nonstop service, the route will also feature upgraded amenities such as complimentary refreshments and in-seat food service that operates without the need for cash.
Alongside its New York to Washington rail plans, Amtrak also announced a series of upgrades to its sleeper cars, which operate on multiple routes throughout the country. Sleeper enhancements include new tables, additional electrical outlets, fresh towels, and redesigned bedding.
Long distance coach cars on East Coast trains will also see improvements in upcoming months, including the addition of LED reading lights, new curtains, and comfort-enhanced seat cushions. With a slew of recently unveiled perks, Amtrak might just see an uptick in ridership throughout the coming year.
