Katie Lawrence is a Southeast Texas native who graduated 18th in her high school class with a GPA of 4.25. She attended college in the Houston area and began writing for OnlyInYourState in 2015.
Today, Katie writes, edits, and performs several other tasks for OnlyInYourState and has never been more passionate about a job before. Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
We all know about the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, but it isn’t the only place in Texas with exotic animals. Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose (the town with dinosaur tracks!) is another such park, and you won’t believe the kinds of beautiful creatures you’ll see there. It promises a fun-filled day for the entire family – check it out for yourself:
The Safari Tour lets you get up-close-and-personal with most of the extremely exotic animals and hear about how they ended up at Fossil Rim. There's also a behind-the-scenes tour that takes you to the Intensive Management Area, and a nighttime tour that lets you see how the animals behave after dark.
Other specialty tours include an all-day adventure tour that consists of meeting the animal care specialists, eating lunch at the Safari Camp, and seeing the areas restricted to guests on the normal tour...
...the Animal Keeper Tour and Dinner, in which an expert animal keeper will take you to the free-roaming area as well as the Intensive Management Area with wolves, cheetahs, rhinos, and other rare creatures before heading to the Foothills Safari Camp to enjoy dinner, dessert, and a glass of wine overlooking a scenic watering hole...
...Photography Tours, where you'll be taken to the spots with the best photo opportunities in the park, and holiday tours for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, and Christmas.
You can even spend the night! Fossil Rim has plenty of lodging - guest rooms in a large ranch house, cabins, and bunkhouses. Plus, overnight guests get access to special morning tours at a discounted rate. I don't know about y'all, but sleeping surrounded by some of the world's most exotic animals sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to me.
