Experience one of the best hikes in Texas when you embark on the White Rock Lake Trail in Dallas. This easy-paved path is suitable for kids and beginners, and it offers some of the most breathtaking views in the state. You definitely won’t feel like you’re in the big city anymore!
Hikes don't have to be difficult to be worth their while, and the White Rock Lake Trail in Dallas is proof of that.
Circling the beautiful White Rock Lake, a historic reservoir that's over a century old, this 9.2-mile paved path is suitable for families (strollers included!), leashed dogs, and wheelchair users. Cycling is also allowed on the trail.
There are several parking lots along the trail, so you get to choose your starting point. No need to complete the entire loop, either - perhaps you'll set off in either direction for a bit before returning to your vehicle.
Even if you never get tired, you should definitely stop and "smell the roses," so to speak. There are so many incredible sights to marvel at, including a spillway with scenic overlooks and a historical landmark, the White Rock Bath House Cultural Center.
The lake is a popular spot for fishing, birding, and watersports, so if any of those activities interest you, be sure to carve out some extra time. The views of downtown from the pier are simply unparalleled.
