The ’80s were known for a lot of things: funky colors, big hair, patterned clothing…the list goes on. Instead of just reliving the era in your memories, you can enjoy a blast from the past at Hungry Like the Wolf in Houston. One of the only ’80s-themed restaurants in Texas, this nostalgic diner boasts classic greasy spoon fare in a totally unforgettable space. It also has some of the wackiest names for menu items you’ve ever seen!
The '80s are back... when you visit Hungry Like the Wolf in Houston, that is! One of the only '80s-themed restaurants in Texas, this retro eatery is turning back time in the most delicious way possible.
Upon stepping inside, the atmosphere is one giant dose of nostalgia. From the patterned floor that will bring back vivid memories of Friday nights at the town skating rink to funky colors everywhere you look, this unique restaurant embodies the essence of the retro age.
As for the menu, it features classic diner fare like hearty breakfast plates, burgers and sandwiches, and blue plate specials such as chicken-fried steak and meatloaf.
For breakfast, your choices include "Purple Rain" pancakes (with blueberry preserves), "Abe Froman" sausage links, and a "Breakfast Club Muffin" sandwich with egg, cheese, and bacon on an English muffin. Paying homage to a popular rock song during the era, you'll also see the phrase "Pour Some Syrup on Me," under the pancake section of the menu.
For lunch, how about a "Motley Crudité" charcuterie board or an “Our House In The Middle of the Street" salad to start? Or, if you're in the mood for something a bit more indulgent, you can't go wrong with the fried pickles and "Duran DuRanch" dressing.
Handhelds like the "Optimus Prime" burger and "There Can Only Be 1!" meatball sub keep the kitsch going. Don't be fooled by the gimmicky nature of the offerings, however - they absolutely deliver when it comes to taste!
Hungry Like the Wolf hosts regular throwback karaoke and 80s movie nights. Visit the restaurant’s website or Facebook page for more information, including current hours, a full menu, and a schedule of upcoming events.
