Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
Instead of sulking about not being able to frolic through bluebonnet fields this spring, why not take a virtual tour? The Hill Country city of Marble Falls has made that possible, with a YouTube video showcasing a vast meadow filled with our state flower. You can even hear birds chirping in the background!
When we think about bluebonnets in Texas, this iconic Marble Falls house is usually top-of-mind. Its charming, cottagey appearance combined with the endless spring blooms flourishing all around makes for a scene so perfectly Texas.
Marble Falls is part of the Highland Lakes Bluebonnet Trail, a self-guided driving tour through waterfront Hill Country towns known for their impressive wildflower displays. While going for a scenic ride is still allowed, you can experience the indigo splendor without leaving home!
Thanks to the Visit Marble Falls TX 'Virtual Vacation' series on YouTube, nature lovers can stream an eye-popping bluebonnet field in their living room.
Watch as the stalks sway side-to-side in the gentle spring breeze, a sight sure to instill a sense of peace in your heart. You can even hear birds chirping in the background!
While we're on the topic of our state flower, the quintessential Bluebonnet Cafe is also located in Marble Falls. The restaurant is unfortunately closed right now amid the pandemic, but it -- and other small, family-owned businesses -- will be relying on our support once things start getting back to normal.
This long-standing eatery is known for its delectable home cooking, with classic diner fare like meatloaf and chicken-fried steak dominating the menu. Perhaps the cafe's largest claim-to-fame is its world-renowned pies made from scratch daily. Just look at the height of that meringue!
So while we would all love to physically frolic through the bluebonnet fields, this video is a close second. Hopefully things will start getting back to normal before the gorgeous spring weather comes to an end!
