When it comes to restaurants with a view in Galveston, Texas, it’s hard to beat Shearn’s Seafood and Prime Steaks. Located at the tip-top of the Moody Gardens Hotel and boasting floor-to-ceiling views of the Gulf of Mexico, this fine dining establishment belongs on your bucket list. I’ve eaten at Shearn’s several times in the past decade or so, and I must say the food is some of the best I have ever had.

The Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa, and Convention Center is a nine-story resort situated just minutes from Schlitterbahn Waterpark and the Gulf of Mexico.
People travel from all over Texas to stay here and experience everything Moody Gardens has to offer, including an aquarium, interactive museum, zoo, swimming pool, golf course, and more. It's a year-round destination that families have been enjoying for decades.
Guests can choose from multiple dining options within the hotel, the most scenic of which is Shearn's Seafood and Prime Steaks. Located on the ninth floor, this fine dining establishment boasts floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the Moody Gardens pyramids and the Gulf waters beyond.
This dinner-only restaurant is definitely upscale, with white tablecloths and waitstaff outfitted in starched uniforms, but there is still a casual, lighthearted undercurrent that reflects the carefree nature of the island.
Shearn's emphasizes freshness and high-quality ingredients, with many of the seafood selections coming straight from the Gulf. You'll see everything from appetizers such as shrimp cocktail to a variety of surf and turf offerings.
Whether you opt for a prime New York strip or seared Gulf snapper, rest assured you will not be disappointed. The sides are equally noteworthy, ranging from white cheddar macaroni and cheese and buttermilk potatoes to herb-roasted root vegetables and sautéed spinach with caramelized onions.
Shearn's is also known for its incredible drink menu. The full bar features a wide range of domestic and International wines, plus a host of handcrafted cocktails.
No matter the season, the views from the restaurant are spectacular. Whether it's winter and you're looking out at the city lights illuminating the darkness or it's the middle of summer and you get to watch the sun slip below the horizon, this is one meal you will not forget.
