Located in Kingsville in South Texas, the historic King Ranch is the largest ranch in the United States. Not only that but at 825,000 acres, it's bigger than my home state of Rhode Island!
2. Texas is home to more cattle than any other state.

And the number of cattle is staggering! There are over 12.7 million cattle here. For reference, Nebraska has the second-highest number of cattle at 6.8 million.

The Caddo were a group of Native American tribes in East Texas. Their word for friends, "techya," means "ally" or "friends," and this is where the name "Texas" comes from.

We have the city of Dallas to thank for the frozen margarita! Back in 1971, Mariano Martinez, an inventor and restauranteur, modified a soft-serve ice cream machine and used it to make the first frozen margarita. If you want to see Martinez's machine, it is now located at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington D.C.
