Thrift stores are really neat places – you can get items that are normally crazy expensive at a fraction of the price, and sifting through everything to find diamonds in the rough is part of the fun! Texas State Surplus Sales is unlike any other thrift store because the items sold have been abandoned or confiscated by state agencies or airports. You can find just about anything here, and everything is an absolute steal.
The store sells salvaged personal property from DPS, TXDOT, TCEQ, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and other state agencies. The public can purchase the items in-store or by bidding in online auctions.
You can score office chairs and school desks for $9, office desks for as little as $35, office supplies starting at $0.25, sofas ranging from $35-$125, and plenty of other amazing deals.
Also for sale are abandoned/confiscated airport items such as pocket knives, multi-purpose tools, jewelry, sunglasses, watches, luggage, and toys. You never know what you might find!
So if you're in need of some new office supplies or even a new car, or just love going thrifting for random knick-knacks, be sure to stop by the State of Texas Surplus Sales next time you find yourself in Austin.
