Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, in 2016, this McDonald’s was renovated and no longer looks like a giant Happy Meal. We can still enjoy a few photos, and share a story or two about our experiences at this once unique location.

We may have mixed feelings about the food itself, but I think all of us can appreciate an architectural wonder. One of the world’s most unique McDonald’s buildings is right here in Texas, and this happy meal-shaped McDonald’s is certainly a sight to behold.

Where are the coolest McDonald's?
You may not have seen any in person yet, but there are quite a few very unique McDonald's restaurants in America like the McDonald's shaped like a Happy Meal featured above. Here are some of the coolest McDonald's we have discovered:

  • Independence Ohio McDonald’s: Most McDonald's buildings look pretty much the same, but this one is pretty cool. From the outside, it looks like a beautiful brick Colonial-style home that you would have found in the 1600s and 1700s America. The interior is equally cool with a fancy chandelier and light fixtures that match the period. You'll find it on Brecksville Road in Independence, OH.
  • New Hyde Park McDonald's, NY: You've heard the term McMansion, but usually they aren't referring to an actual McDonald's. This unique Micky D's in New York was built in 1795 for the wealthy Denton family. In 1985 the McDonald's corporation purchased the home with a plan to demolish it and build a typical McDonald's restaurant. After residents petitioned to have the historic home preserved, McDonald's ended up restoring it and renovating the interior. It is now one of the coolest McDonald's in the country.
  • World's Biggest McDonald’s, Orlando, FL: Of course, one of the coolest McDonald's just so happens to be the largest in the world. With 19,000 square feet of space, an arcade, and a huge play area this is a whopper - or is that sacrilegious to say? This McDonald's is a modern work of art. But that isn't all that's unique about it - you can order a pizza, fresh omelets, and even Philly cheesesteaks!
