Texas may not be known for gorgeous chapels, so that’s what makes this one all the more special. Chapel Dulcinea, near Austin, is a Tuscan-inspired wedding venue that has all the elements necessary to make that special day as magical as possible – including being completely free. That’s right, you can get married here at absolutely no cost. Those wedding bells sound a little sweeter now, don’t they?
The name "Dulcinea" is that of a fictional woman in the book, "Don Quixote de la Mancha" by Cervantes. The character represents all that is good and right in the world - a perfect ideal to name a place of holy matrimony after.
When you first arrive, you're greeted by a wall adorned with enormous silver bells. If you listen carefully, you can hear them gently chiming in the wind.
In fact, the bride and groom aren't officially pronounced man and wife until they've walked out onto the balcony. It's supposed to symbolize how much of a leap of faith marriage is.
Dulcinea's bell tower has a 28-inch bronze bell and a 160 year-old, 10.5 foot-tall oak door leading into it. After the newlyweds say "I do," they pull the rope together to ring the bell and seal their union.
Here’s a video of all the highlights of Chapel Dulcinea:
I can practically hear wedding bells ringing right now.
The chapel is located at 16221 Crystal Hills Drive Austin, TX 78737. Have you ever been to Chapel Dulcinea? Are there any other equally breathtaking wedding chapels in Texas?
