If you’re in search of the best pie in Texas, you’ll have to mosey on over to the tiny town of Tioga. Not far from Denton, this charming community is home to the one and only Clark’s Outpost. A longstanding local icon, Clark’s dishes out decadent pies with some of the tallest meringue topping you’ve ever seen – it can be up to a foot tall at times! Not only are these freshly-baked pies absolutely massive, but they’re also sinfully delicious, and after you finish a slice, you’ll find yourself asking for a whole one for the road.

Tucked away in the tiny town of Tioga (where Gene Autry was born!), Clark's Outpost has been a local institution since 1974.
Several years ago, much of the restaurant was destroyed in a tragic fire. The folks who run the place are a resilient bunch, however, and it didn't take long for them to rebuild and get back to business as usual.
The humble eatery has received numerous accolades from prestigious publications, and you'll understand why as soon as you sample their mouthwatering food. Slow-smoked meat is the backbone of the menu; the brisket cooks for a whopping 3.5 days, while ribs smoke for eight hours.
Also not to be missed are the appetizers and sides. From calf fries to coleslaw to red beans to potato salad, these classic Southern comforts pair beautifully with a plate of BBQ.
We haven't even mentioned the taste yet. After just one bite, your taste buds will ascend to heaven as they register the pie's rich, creamy sweetness. Clark's also has other desserts, including bread pudding, pecan cobbler, apple crumble pie, and ice cream, but please try at least one slice of pie!
