You'd never know you're just 45 minutes from downtown Houston at this peaceful state park. There are 37 miles of trails, and the Creekfield Lake Nature Trail takes you through this whimsical tree tunnel with moss hanging from the limbs and making it reminiscent of a fairy land. The best part? The trail is only .5 miles long! The park is located at 21901 FM 762, Needville, TX 77461.

We've featured this road around Halloween for a much different reason - it's said to be haunted by the ghost of a train conductor who lost his head in a tragic derailing accident. The evidence? A mysterious light that many have reported seeing at the end of the road after dark. Apparently, it's his lantern shining as he searches for his lost body part. You can read more about that here, but we want to talk about Bragg Road in a much more positive light today. If you go during the day, it's actually a very peaceful drive. For nearly 8 miles, the trees hang over the pavement like a canopy, completely blocking out the sky in some spots. As long as you block out the supposed history of the road, it's a great place to go when you need some peace and quiet. The road intersects with both FM 787 and 1293 near the town of Saratoga, so if you're ever in the area, I would highly recommend checking it out.
