Round Top has a population of less than 100, so it isn’t even on most people’s radars. That’s a shame, however, because this tiny town is hiding some of the best pie in Texas. Royers Round Top Cafe has been featured on several national TV programs for its mouthwatering homemade pies, and it’s the sweetest day trip you’ll ever take.
Royers Round Top Cafe is a quirky little restaurant that attracts hungry customers from all corners of the country.
The interior is a tad chaotic, with a hodgepodge of décor and memorabilia on the walls, but that's part of what makes the small town bistro so charming.
Elevated comfort food is the name of the game here. While the menu boasts plenty of Texas classics like chicken-fried steak, you'll also see gourmet Southern dishes like pork tenderloin with a spicy peach glaze.
While the food is delicious, the café is best known for its mouthwatering pie. In fact, Bud Royer, the founding father of Royers Round Top Cafe, was nicknamed "The Pie Man."
From fruity classics like apple and cherry to decadent flavors such as pecan and buttermilk, there's something for everyone. Two sugar free pies are also available for those with special dietary needs.
Several of the pies from Royers have been featured on The Food Network as well as the TV show "Small Town Big Deal" - so you know they're the best of the best.
Can't decide on a flavor? Get the pie sampler, which comes with four slices of your choosing. Oh, and don't forget the most important part: a big scoop of vanilla Blue Bell on top.
Royers ships their pies nationwide, so all your friends and family can indulge, as well. Plus, you can stock up when you don't feel like making the trip to Round Top!
Hours are 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, 11 a.m. until 9 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday. Visit the restaurant’s website or Facebook page to learn more.
