As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Unique places to stay overnight abound here in Texas, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t always on the lookout for more. At Skybox Cabins in Glen Rose, one particular accommodation – a bird’s nest, to be exact – safely tops our list of memorable getaway destinations.
Located on a vast 50 acres of oak and cedar trees, this Central Texas retreat features three separate cabins in addition to luxury yurts and a primitive camping area. Each accommodation has its own unique perks, but we can't help but fall in love with one in particular.
Known as "The Nest," this Instagrammable nook is the newest addition at Skybox. It features all the same amenities as every other cabin, with the addition of an attached hideout perfect for adventure-seekers and bookworms alike. Curl up with an enthralling read or snuggle next to your special someone, letting the sheer magic of the scene envelop your every sense.
Amenities include a full kitchenette, water filtration system, complimentary snacks + drinks, linens, and toiletries for bathing. Over half the property is covered in cedar from nearby trees, guaranteeing a morning wake-up call from the resident birds.
One master bedroom is furnished in a minimalist style so as to encourage true, deep human interaction. French doors lead straight out to your own private balcony, so the crisp Hill Country air is never more than a few steps away.
On the balcony, enjoy incredible views of the undulating hills rising up in all directions. Wake up at your own pace with a cup of strong coffee and watch the sun make its daily ascent above the horizon, or stay up well into the night and gaze in awestruck enchantment at the expansive starry night sky.
Glass of wine in-hand, sit outside beneath the incandescent glow of strung-up porch lights on a breezy Hill Country evening. An atmosphere this enchanting makes it almost effortless to nurture romance, rekindle old friendships, and just be your most authentic self.
You can practically see the entire Hill Country from inside The Nest. With the cool evening breeze on your skin, we can't imagine a better place to sip a glass of wine and get away from it all.
