Waterfall hikes are certainly not hard to find here in Texas, but sometimes, they’re hiding right under our noses. Unbeknownst to many, Chalk Ridge Falls Park in Belton boasts a breathtaking waterfall — and the trail leading to it is just three miles long.
At just 3.1 miles long, Chalk Ridge Falls Trail is a short-and-sweet hike perfect for the whole family. It's easy enough that kids and pets can tag along, but features such as boardwalks, bridges, and a waterfall make for an interesting hike nonetheless.
Parallelling a pristine, winding river for its entire duration, the trail is scenic as can be. During the hot summer months, nothing feels better than a cool breeze emanating from the water. Hear the wind rustle through the tall grass, eventually invigorating your spirit with its powerful touch.
About midway along the path, you'll come to a wooden suspension bridge. Don't worry, it's not as scary as it looks — and the gorgeous surroundings coupled with relaxing nature sounds definitely make crossing a bit easier.
Several boardwalks, some of which extend over the water, adding a nice change of pace to the hike. With trees draped overhead like a lush forest canopy, you'll be utterly enchanted at every turn.
After hearing the unmistakable sound of rushing water, you'll be delighted when this scene unfolds before your eyes. Cascading down a series of rocks, these hidden falls promise to take your breath away.
You're welcome to wade in the shallow pool before heading back the way you came. Amidst the chaos of daily life, finding little pockets of tranquility is key.
