Everyone needs to take time out of their day for relaxation, but especially so if you live in a big city. Dragon Park in Dallas is a magical garden that looks like something straight out of a fantasy novel, and spending just a few minutes soaking up its tranquility is enough to completely change your attitude. Nestled in the Oak Lawn neighborhood at the intersection of Cedar Springs Road and Hood Street is an enchanting place that few people know exists. Dragon Park is a privately-owned extension of Select Salon across the street, originally constructed for clients to continue their relaxation after appointments. The word inevitably got out about this hidden oasis and the public has been welcome ever since.
Enormous trees almost completely obscure the entrance, which explains why you'll rarely encounter large crowds. Two Chinese guardian lions command their perches on either side of the staircase, casting a protective aura over the entire park.
From winged mythical creatures to holy angels, the sculptures truly look as if they were plucked straight out of a fantasy novel. The space is rather small, so it only takes about five minutes to see everything - that leaves plenty of time for doing some meditation or deep thinking.
Not only are the statues themselves amazing, but the surrounding plant life is as well. Eye-popping exotic blooms take you on an Asian excursion without ever leaving Texas.
Whether you stop by after a long workday or plop down with a good book over the weekend, Dragon Park is always a welcome respite from the bustling city. People often enter the grounds with unbearably heavy burdens; however, they leave feeling rejuvenated and free of any unnecessary weight on their shoulders.
