Sitting in the car with your high school sweetheart, eating popcorn, maybe stealing a kiss or two when nobody's looking...ahh, there's nothing like a drive-in movie theater to take you back to your teenage years. This particular one is in West Texas, but there are over 15 throughout the state!

We're all familiar with the good ol' 59 Diner. They've really outdone themselves in making it essentially an exact replica of a diner from the 1950's. Between the checkered floors, red stools, and jukebox, you'll feel like you've stepped into a time machine.

Drive-in movies are nice, but sometimes you want the real thing. Jefferson Theatre in my hometown of Beaumont has been around since 1927 providing a classic movie experience like none other.
A vintage bowling alley with leather couches and jet-black bowling shoes is bound to make your night worthwhile. Plus, how cute is their selection of craft beer?

No retro experience is complete without an old fashioned soda fountain. A root beer (or Dr. Pepper because this is Texas) float will be like taking a sip of nostalgia.

The vintage sign alone is enough to draw me in. If you want to accessorize like it's still the 50's (or if you just like browsing at nifty antique jewelry pieces), pay a visit to Kruger's and see what neat finds you come across.
This adorable college-town diner is about as retro as it gets. Known all around the state for its delicious standard diner fare like pancakes, burgers, and milkshakes, Dolli's is a blast from the past that's worth the trip.

Hut's has been dishing up fantastic burgers for some time, and honestly, even if their food wasn't to die for, I'd still frequent the restaurant for the atmosphere alone. But luckily they offer some seriously delicious diner food (and the obligatory milkshakes, of course.)
I can personally vouch for the vintage charm of this old fashioned ice cream parlor and candy factory. I don't think there's any place quite like it in the entire state of Texas. Enjoy a delicious sundae or indulge in some salt water taffy made right before your eyes...or pick from the wall-to-wall selection of candy. Whatever you choose, you know it's authentic just like it was in the old days.
