There is no shortage of St. Patrick’s Day events here in Texas, but you won’t *relish* any quite like the Pickle Festival in Mansfield. Complete with a parade, fun run, food vendors, and so many more festivities, it’s kind of a big *dill.*
Each year, the world's only St. Patrick's Day Pickle Parade is held right here in Mansfield, Texas. Its mascot is none other than a six-foot-tall gherkin who has danced his way into thousands of photographs over the past nine years.
With dozens of floats and marching groups, the Pickle Parade kicks off the festivities. Keep your eyes peeled 'till the end to see the Pickle Queens, decked out from head to toe in bright red wigs, green thrift-store prom gowns, and tiaras.
Hungry? Take a stroll through the food court and feast your eyes on everything the vendors have to offer. Barbecue, corn dogs, turkey legs, and, of course, homemade pickles galore, ensure nobody goes home without a full stomach.
Work off all the food ahead of time with a 10k, 5k, or 1-mile run before the parade. There's nothing like some fresh air on a springtime morning to invigorate the senses and prepare you for a full day of fun.
Pups are allowed as long as they're leashed, and man's best friend has been known to have a blast at the festival. Don't forget a festive outfit to make your furry friend the talk of the day.
It all takes place in Mansfield, a town just south of the DFW Metroplex. Free shuttles will pick up and drop off at Legacy High School between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
