11 Photos You'll Only Understand If You Hail From Texas
Every state has its quirks, but I firmly believe that we Texans have the most unique (in a good way, of course) mannerisms in the nation. From homecoming mums to Texas-shaped waffles to family photos taken in bluebonnet fields, here are 11 things that only Texans will understand. See how many of these Texas photos you relate to!
1. Homecoming mums

If you know, you know. For the uninitiated, high school girls wear these over-the-top accessories to the homecoming football game (but you already know that if you're a Texan). It's all part of life in Texas!
2. Texas-shaped everything

Have you ever seen waffles (or tortilla chips, etc.) shaped like any other state? I surely haven't. Out-of-staters would be downright puzzled by this photo, but to us, it's just a run-of-the-mill breakfast.

3. The magic of those Friday Night Lights

While Texans have many different faiths, we all share the religion that is high school football. To some, the fall season means pumpkin patches, Halloween, and colored leaves, but to us, it means Friday nights spent cheering for our favorite team. Living in Texas sure is grand!

4. Breakfast tacos

Breakfast tacos have become a bit more mainstream in recent years, but they still aren't necessarily commonplace - unless you're in Texas, of course. The Lone Star State popularized this delicacy (which consists of various combinations of eggs, cheese, breakfast meats, potatoes, salsa, and a few other staple ingredients), and we couldn't imagine our lives without it.
5. Our annual bluebonnet pictures

It isn't bluebonnet season until we've plopped down in the middle of a field to take family pictures. I don't make the rules, I just live by them.
6. The Congress Avenue bats

Tourists visiting Austin in the summertime are probably utterly perplexed when they see hundreds of people crowding onto the Congress Avenue Bridge at night - until they see what they're there for, that is. On summer evenings at dusk, North America's largest urban bat colony swarms the sky in search of food, and seeing the spectacle is an experience we wouldn't trade for the world.

8. Whataburger

When it comes to football teams, Texans are divided between burnt orange and white and maroon. As far as burgers are concerned, however, it's Whataburger or nothing. The fast food chain got its start in Corpus Christi and has since expanded all over the country, but only true Texans understand just how special it is. Is all this talk of food making you hungry? If so, head on over to Grubhub and order yourself something delicious.

9. "Everything is bigger in Texas"

From Big Tex to the Texas State Capital building (which is taller than the U.S. Capital!), this age-old adage rings true in every corner of the Lone Star State.
10. Buc-ee's

Yes, Buc-ee's has expanded out of Texas, but it started here, and as such, it will always have a special place in our hearts. Between the delicious Beaver Nuggets, homemade fudge and jerky, and impossibly clean restrooms, only Texans understand the phenomenon of passing up dozens of other gas stations on the way to a Buc-ee's.
11. The Texas flag

Nothing compares to the overwhelming feeling of pride that swells within us when we see our flag waving in the wind. It's more than just a flag; it's a symbol of the best state in the U.S.
