If you’ve never been to the Rainforest Cafe restaurant in Galveston, Texas, you’re missing out on something truly epic: the Rainforest River Adventure Ride. This location of the national chain is the only one with this unique perk, and it’s an experience the whole family is sure to enjoy. On board a floating riverboat, you’ll ride past animatronic jungle creatures as the dramatic sights and sounds of the rainforest captivate your senses.
While there are dozens of Rainforest Cafe restaurants across the country, the Galveston, Texas location stands out among them all. Why, you might ask?
You'll float past animatronic rainforest animals such as elephants, giraffes, and alligators, plus an abundance of lush greenery and tropical flowers.

Just like the restaurant itself, the ride captures all of your senses with animal sounds, booming thunder, and other noises you'd expect to hear in the middle of the jungle.
I've done this ride several times throughout my life, and I'm never not excited to embark on it again. My favorite part of the ride is the very end - how cool is this scene?!
Options range from fish tacos to steak to Creole mac and cheese to burgers, and everything is delicious. There is also a kids menu that's sure to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters.
Whatever you do, please don't skip dessert. The "Volcano" is the Rainforest Cafe's signature menu item, and it's as mouthwatering as it looks.
This behemoth is a rich chocolate brownie cake served warm and topped with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, and both caramel and chocolate sauce.
Visit the Rainforest Cafe website or the Rainforest Cafe Facebook page for more information, including the per-person cost for the ride.
Have you ever taken the Rainforest River Adventure Ride? If so, we’d love to hear all about your experience in the comments! Check out our previous article for more things to do in Galveston, and if you need somewhere to stay on the island, I highly recommend the Grand Galvez Resort.
