The overabundance of choice offered to us by the modern world is both a blessing and a curse. Having too many options can be almost paralyzing sometimes, and it often makes us long for simpler times. If you’re struggling with decision fatigue, make things easy on yourself and head to Brigitta’s, the only Hungarian restaurant in Texas. There’s a good reason why this Kilgore joint has a monopoly on Hungarian cuisine – it’s simply the best you’ll ever eat! The flavors are so bold and authentic, and you’ll want to come back every day to try something new.
If you aren't specifically on the lookout for Brigitta's Hungarian Restaurant, there's a good chance you'll drive right past the small wooden building - but that would be a dire mistake. Often described as a hidden gem in the Kilgore dining scene, this tiny-but-mighty spot serves up some of the best food in town.
The interior is quaint and cozy, and upon stepping inside, you'll feel as if you're being welcomed into someone's very own home. That feeling is amplified by the quick and friendly service accompanied by a genuine, ear-to-ear grin.
Open for both lunch and dinner, the restaurant has a different menu each day, so you never know exactly what to expect. That being said, different variations of the same items, such as schnitzels and cabbage dishes, are offered in the regular rotation.
Speaking of cabbage, have you ever tried cabbage lasagna? It's much less heavy than the traditional preparation, and every bite is bursting with authentic Hungarian flavor.
If you love bratwurst, you'll be hard-pressed to find it better anywhere else. Served with German potato salad, sauerkraut, and spicy brown mustard, it's Hungarian comfort food at its finest.
Visit the restaurant’s Facebook page for more information, such as current hours and the daily menu.
