When you hear the catchy slogan, “That’s What I Like About Texas,” do you immediately start craving a burger, fries, and Blizzard® treat? Us too! After all, Dairy Queen is the unofficial fast food restaurant of the Lone Star State. The very first Dairy Queen in Texas opened in 1950 and is still going strong. It offers delicious eats with a side of nostalgia.
On the outside, the Dairy Queen on US-79 N in Henderson doesn't look like anything special. With the familiar logo and façade, the building appears to be an ordinary franchise of the popular Texas chain...but that couldn't be further from the truth.
While the drive-thru is the quickest and most popular means of service, we recommend going inside just this once. The walls are covered in old photographs of the store, plus a timeline that details the humble beginnings and rapid evolution of the brand.
After enjoying a thorough history lesson, it's time to place your order. On the menu, you'll see fast-food classics like burgers, chili dogs, and chicken finger baskets, plus lots of delicious treats to end your meal on a sweet note.
One simply doesn't visit a Dairy Queen without getting dessert. The chain is best known for their signature Blizzard®, an ice cream sundae loaded with all sorts of decadent mix-ins. Flavors change seasonally, so you never quite know what to expect!
Visit the official Dairy Queen website or Facebook page for more information about the Henderson location, including current hours and a full menu.
