Next time you take the family on a beach day to Galveston, switch things up and head to Magic Carpet Golf. With a beachfront view and 36 holes of ocean-themed fun, it’s a fun-filled experience for everyone who visits.
Need to stretch out your land legs after taking a dip in the Gulf? Look no further than Magic Carpet Golf, a family-friendly destination right on the seawall that makes a perfect addition to your next beach day itinerary. At only $10 per ticket, it's an absolute steal.
I think we can all agree one of the worst things about mini golf is waiting while everyone else takes their turn - especially if you have a large group. Luckily, with its beachfront location, the course offers breathtaking views to feast your eyes on between putts. Partaking in a childhood pastime while surrounded by peaceful nature - can you imagine a better day trip?
Not one, but two 18-hole courses each offer a completely different, yet equally challenging, adventure. Opt for the back half if you come on a particularly hot day, as it provides more shade. Early morning or nighttime visitors might prefer the front, with less unbearable temperatures lessening the need for coverage - oh, and better visibility of the beach is a nice perk, as well.
Most of the holes are oceanic in nature, but a few oddballs keep things interesting. This eclectic mashup of themes includes aquatic animals like fish and turtles, pirate ships, and a funky chicken that gobbles up your ball before excreting it. Think that's strange? It's only the tip of the iceberg.
While many golf courses have themes merely for show, almost all of the obstacles at Magic Carpet are interactive. Some move around, while others, like this giant seashell, require players to hit the ball straight through and out the other side. Not only is the game much more challenging this way, but it also makes getting bored nearly impossible.
Visit around sunset to get the best of both worlds: a summer evening breeze that makes for a more comfortable experience, plus truly unparalleled oceanfront views. Pro-tip: there's a shaved ice truck next door, so grab some on your way out. Bonus points if you sit outside and take in the warm amber glow while enjoying it.
