Texas winters (if you can even call what we experience “winter”) are the WORST. We’d much rather live like the Northerners and have to wake up two hours earlier just to de-ice our windshield, warm up the car, shovel knee-deep snow out of the driveway, and put on ten layers of clothing before stepping outside than endure a couple agonizing days of freezing temperatures scattered throughout the mild 50-60 degree days that make up the bulk of our season. Here are nine additional reasons why winter is better spent anywhere else than the Lone Star State.

1. The beach during wintertime is just plain ugly.

A 65 degree afternoon with the wind in your hair, sand in between your toes, and hardly anyone else around to impede your solitude...sounds like a terrible way to spend the day, right? That's what I thought.
2. Nothing sounds worse than a warm bowl of chili on a (semi) cold night.

Tender beef with just the right spices, on a bed of fluffy white rice, topped with cheese and served with saltine crackers. Just disgusting.
3. Dressing like this in the middle of winter is just unacceptable.

We'd much rather take an extra 30 minutes in the morning putting on two pairs of socks, leggings, pants, three shirts, four jackets, mittens, and a hat.
4. And on the rare occasion it does snow, nobody really cares anyway.

5. We feel left out because we don't have to deal with this every morning.

Gross. That cloud dandruff is far from beautiful, and it certainly doesn't belong in our majestic Big Bend.
7. These aren't the right kind of boots for this time of year.

Winter is for expensive, furry, ugly foot prisons that get matted down with sweat after just a few uses. Cowboy boots are comfortable, stylish, and they keep your feet just warm enough - so why on earth would we choose to wear them?
8. You can't get the real winter experience here.

There are just no winter activities to do in Texas. None.
9. It just doesn't feel right to be able to go hiking in the middle of winter.

There's something wrong with the temperature being in the 60s or 70s this time of year. Getting out and seeing these breathtaking views when other parts of the country are knee-deep in snow is plain unfair.

Texas winters are just awful, y’all. The rest of the country should feel sorry that we have to go through this every single year…
