Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
Not only is sunset and its subsequent moonlit glow the most magical time of day here in Texas, but also by far the coolest – especially during the warmer months. Rowing Dock in Austin has combined two of our favorite activities, kayaking and stargazing, into one epic summer event. Check it out:
Since 1999, Rowing Dock has been every Austin resident's favorite summertime hangout spot. Launch your own watercraft or rent one of several options and set sail on Lady Bird Lake.
Texas is magical any time of day, but something about sunset just amplifies that invigorating buzz. Go Paddle AZ offers an absolutely ethereal moonlight kayak excursion on Town Lake, and it's the perfect way to kick off summer.
The tours begin at 8 p.m., leaving plenty of time to witness an iconic Texas sunset. Brilliant sapphire, pink, and amber hues form a colorful blanket overhead, reflecting on the water for an unforgettable evening adventure.
Paddle upstream to Red Bud Island or eastward in the direction of downtown. Few scenes trump the Austin skyline beneath a cloudless, pitch-dark night sky - save for the moon's brilliant glimmer, of course.
Weekday rates are $10/hr for singles and $15 for a tandem; a $5 increase applies on weekends. The last rental departs at 9 p.m. and must dock by 10 p.m.
Rowing Dock also features a Bat Paddle, College Day, and pet-friendly "Yappy Hour." Canoes, stand-up paddle boards, fishing kayaks, and paddle boats are also available.
Address: 2418 Stratford Drive, Austin, TX 78746. Regular hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily, however an extension until 10 p.m. will be in place for this special event.
