As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Places to stay in West Texas that aren’t shady two-star motels are few and far between, so happening upon this eclectic bed & breakfast was quite a pleasant surprise. Eve’s Garden is a vibrant desert oasis with themed rooms, a reflection pond, rooftop stargazing deck, and breathtaking view of Big Bend looming in the distance.
Made almost entirely of papercrete, Eve's is all about conservation and producing minimal waste. Its whimsical architecture definitely adds charm to an already enchanting experience of staying in the Texas badlands.
Each room has its own unique style, some boasting domed ceilings + brightly-colored walls and others resembling big barrel vaults with earthy tones. All seven have A/C, a mini-fridge, private bath, and flowers from the greenhouse.
Three rooms have private patios, six open onto a gorgeous indoor courtyard, and one is right next to a quaint fruit orchard. No matter which you choose, get ready for a magical overnight experience straight out of a fairytale.
Homemade breakfasts are served every morning, featuring fresh fruit and veggies from the garden and local dairy products. Beautiful spreads of pancakes, venison sausage, omelettes, and plenty more scrumptious dishes rival even the finest gourmet dining you've ever had.
Any allergies or special diets are happily accommodated. Give the heads-up when making your reservation, and Eve's will do everything possible to ensure everyone's needs are met — that's just the kind of hospitable people they are.
Lifelong friendships will be made at this very table. Only certain types of people are brave enough to escape into the mountains, and you'll have the opportunity to dwell among kindred spirits.
Kate, the owner of Eve's, lives on-site and opens her home to guests from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Make yourself comfortable with plenty of cozy couches perfect for reading or mingling.
Just off the main house is this peaceful reflection pond. During winter, it's a perfect spot to enjoy your morning cup of coffee and do some soul searching, while summertime turns it into a solar-heated lap pool.
The aforementioned courtyard features a singing fountain, fish pond, rooftop deck for stargazing, and plenty of tables and chairs overlooking the stage where a live band serenades guests nightly. Nothing quite compares to a cool desert evening underneath the glittering Milky Way band.
Have you ever stayed at Eve’s Garden? Are there any other charming bed & breakfasts in Texas with an x-factor setting them apart from all the rest? Tell us the very best place you’ve spent the night!
