Mac and cheese is arguably the most popular comfort food in America — so much so that an entire festival dedicated to it has been established right here in Texas! The Austin Mac & Cheese Festival is returning this November for the third consecutive year, and tickets are already on sale. You definitely don’t want to miss out on the cheesiest event of the season. Mark your calendar for Sunday, November 10.
After being one of Austin's most successful food festivals for two consecutive years, this cheesy event is going on a nationwide tour. Dozens of vendors set up shop to cook America's favorite comfort food in every delicious way, shape, and form imaginable.
Local restaurants go head-to-head in a fierce competition to concoct the winning mac. Guests vote by leaving a token at their favorite booth — whoever ends up with the most is crowned champion.
Expect there to be at least 20 samples, but perhaps even more. Pacing yourself is paramount so as not to become afflicted with a cheese hangover, but this feat is much easier said than done. Oh well — a minor food coma never hurt anyone.
Whether you prefer a crispy crust on top or the same texture throughout, rest-assured everyone leaves with a full belly and happy heart. Also, let's just take a second to appreciate that epic cheese pull... our mouths are watering already!
Can we just take a second to appreciate this spread? Quesadillas, fried mac and cheese balls, and so many more innovative creations take this festival to a whole different level than any other like it.
Plenty of drink options — including adult beverages — will be available to wash down all that sodium. Nothing satisfies quite like a cold glass of Tito's vodka, handmade in Texas' oldest legal distillery.
So if you're at all a fan of cheesy carbs, don't miss out on the most indulgent affair in Texas. Who wouldn't want a forkful of this mouthwatering scrumptiousness?
Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 10.
Visit the festival’s website or Facebook page to learn more. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here.
