We all love a good pirate movie. There’s adventure, money, humor; the whole shebang. What if you could bring that fantasy to life for a day and pretend you’re Captain Jack Sparrow? Well, friends, look no further than Pirate’s Pier in Port Isabel. From fishing to dining surrounded by steering wheels and rum bottles to a cruise ship with the Jolly Roger flying high and proud, the longest pier in Texas is an ideal summer day trip for the whole family.
Port Isabel is a charming little fishing town of just over 5,000 people. While most just pass through on the way to South Padre, it's absolutely worth it to actually stop and visit every once in a while. After all, this unassuming community is home to the state's longest pier!
Whether you're an avid fisherman looking to score your next big catch or just a tourist wanting to do some sightseeing, there's fun to be had by everyone. No need to haul your fishing equipment with you - there's an on-site tackle & bait shop complete with rental poles and anything else you might need.
If you're new to fishing or just craving a change from your usual routine, consider hopping aboard an Isabella Excursion and letting an experienced tour guide lead you to all the most active spots. Been struggling to get a bite lately? Maybe this is exactly what you need to start reeling 'em in again.
There's no shortage of attractions for the non-fishers, either. See if a pirate's life is indeed the one for you by taking a Black Dragon Cruise, where you'll set sail on an interactive journey of singing, dancing, and walking the plank if you don't cooperate (okay, maybe not that last one).
You're bound to get hungry after a full day of fishing and exploring, and when that happens, fear not. A snack bar located directly on the pier is your one-stop shop for sandwiches, chips, ice, cold beers, and plenty of other small bites to hold you over for a couple more hours of fun.
When you're about done for the day and ready to grab dinner, Pirate's Landing is just across the street. Between the steering wheels and rum bottles mounted on the walls and themed attire worn by the waitstaff, you'll expect Jack Sparrow to come walking through the door any second.
After your belly is nice and full of delicious seafood, take a little stroll to burn off some of those calories. There are three museums, a sea life center, and tons of quaint shops all within walking distance from the pier!
