Some towns have a little bit of everything—and those are the ones you want to spend some time exploring. The small town of Medina, population 1774, is hiding some incredibly unique natural areas, delicious apple pie, and other gems you’ll want to check out. Take a look:
The Medina River is such an underrated body of water. It's pristine as can be, and the canopy of trees hanging overhead create the perfect amount of shade to keep you cool on a hot summer day.
Kayakers and tubers spend hours navigating the rapids and long, calm stretches alike. Here you can find a map outlining all the parks and public road crossings where you can enter the river.
Looking for a relaxing weekend getaway? The Escondida Bed & Breakfast is an ideal destination. The rustic villa is exactly what you need to feel relaxed and rejuvenated before returning to the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
There's even a day spa at the resort, and you don't have to be an overnight guest to take advantage of the services. Enjoy massages, facials, and plenty of other treatments guaranteed to completely restore your body and mind.
Want to enjoy a glass of wine while watching a breathtaking Hill Country sunset? Vine on the Rocks is just the place. They specialize in Tempranillo, which they make from grapes on the premises.
Last but certainly not least, a trip to Medina would never be complete without stopping by Love Creek Orchards. Not only can you pick your own fruit, but also indulge in delicious treats made from the natural candy growing from the trees.
Kiddos will have a blast picking blackberries, figs, apples, peaches, and persimmons. Blackberries are in season right now, and peaches, apples, and figs will be ripe for the picking starting next month!
Attached to the orchard is the Apple Store, where you can delight in scrumptious foods like burgers and sandwiches. It was named one of the top 40 small-town restaurants in the state by Texas Monthly!
It would be a crime to leave without dessert. Pie, cake, cookies, strudel, turnovers, muffins, and even ice cream are all made from homegrown apples and will absolutely blow your mind and tastebuds.
