If you grew up in Texas, you’ve probably eaten at The Black-eyed Pea at least once. My hometown had one, and my parents would take us there for dinner all the time; those are some of my most cherished memories. I was deeply saddened to see Black-eyed Peas all over not just Texas, but the entire country start to close left and right, and eventually, I thought there were none left – but I was wrong. There is still a Black-eyed Pea restaurant in Arlington, Texas, and it’s worth visiting for the nostalgia factor alone (but the food is also incredible).

People drive from all over Texas to eat at The Black-eyed Pea in Arlington, and if that isn't a testament to the quality and flavor of the food, I don't know what is.
Don't let the restaurant's humble exterior fool you - it may not look like anything special on the outside, but inside, home-cooked Southern meals just like mom and grandma used to make await your hungry taste buds.
Upon stepping inside, the interior will remind you of your past experiences dining at The Black Eyed Pea.
The atmosphere is one of nostalgia, and that feeling grows even stronger when you open up a menu and see all of your old favorites staring back at you.

How about starting off with a delicious appetizer? With options such as loaded baked potato skins, spinach dip, and fried green tomatoes, it's hard to say no.
Folks go crazy for the chicken pot pie, so I highly recommend trying it if you haven't yet.
It's Thanksgiving year-round at The Black-eyed Pea! You'll be well on your way to a tryptophan-induced food coma after enjoying some turkey breast with gravy and dressing.
If you're feeling seafood, the fried catfish is always a solid choice. You'll also see baked whitefish, grilled salmon, and New Orleans-style catfish with dirty rice and garlic cream sauce.
Sides include everything from steamed broccoli to macaroni and cheese to - of course - black-eyed peas. And if you have room for dessert, the banana pudding, peach cobbler, and cherry and apple fried pies are all crowd favorites.
Visit the Black-eyed Pea website or Black-eyed Pea Facebook page for more information about the restaurant, such as current hours and a full menu.
