We like our ice cream just the same as we like everything else here in Texas: real, no-frills, and made with plenty of heart and soul. There are lots of little mom and pop shops that serve it up that way, but Beth Marie’s Old Fashioned Ice Cream in Denton is definitely one of the best and most underrated. Not only is the ice cream decadent, delicious, and available in a variety of unique flavors, but the decor will remind you of an adorable 1950s-esque diner.
Located in Denton's historic downtown square, Beth Marie's is housed in a building that dates back to 1876. It has the atmosphere of an old-fashioned soda fountain, so the bells of nostalgia will be sounding before you even step through the door.
The black-checkered floors and wooden bar stools will take you right back to late nights at your local diner as a teenager. Reminisce on memories of dancing to jukebox tunes and sipping milkshakes long after your parents expected you home.
With over 50 flavors to choose from, the menu might seem a bit overwhelming to first-timers. Courthouse Pecan, French Toast, Turtle Torture...how can you pick just one when they all sound so delicious?
Not only is the ice cream unique, but it's also as rich and decadent as it gets. It contains 14% butterfat, which puts it in the "premium" category unlike that disgraceful "frozen dairy dessert" stuff that grocery stores sell.
