Something about hot air balloons signifies the start of summertime, so we couldn’t imagine a better place to be on the first weekend of June than the Victory Cup Hot Air Balloon Festival in Dallas. With food, live music, vendors, games, and – of course – soaring high in the sky on one of these babies, the day promises to be an unforgettable experience for the whole family.
Gates open at 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, and the festival kicks off with the balloons being fired up (literally!) and left ablaze so you can bask in their warm, enchanting glow.
Don't worry, you won't be forced to just stare at them without getting to hop in. Rides will be available throughout the night - tethered, of course, so no need to fear floating away into oblivion!
Although the balloons are the main attraction, there are plenty of other fun-filled activities taking place. Drop your kiddos off at the playground, and then explore the festival and see what shenanigans you find yourself in.
If you're an early bird, arrive at the crack of dawn and get rewarded with a scrumptious breakfast spread (mimosas included!). Watching the dimly-lit balloons illuminate the morning sky with the sun steadily rising behind them is a breathtaking sight to behold.
Y'all didn't think we forgot about the food, did you? Chefs will be battling it out today to see who can concoct the tastiest creations, and you'll get to sample their dishes as well as some of the best beer, wine, and liquor around. A family-style dinner will also be held from 4-7 p.m.
The whole family will enjoy games like this gigantic chess board, corn-hole, and being spectators of a polo match as well as incredible live music performances. This is a weekend of fun you won't want to miss!
So if you want to take part in one of the most colorful days of the year, click here to get your tickets. We truly can't imagine a better way to kick off summertime.
