When you think of castles, Texas is probably one of the last places that comes to mind. Here in the Lone Star State, however, we have an abundance of grandiose, palace-like buildings that are simply astounding. There’s one hidden castle in particular that almost nobody in the state knows anything about — Smythwick Castle & Lodge in Marble Falls.
Smythwick Castle & Lodge is situated on 10 sprawling acres in the Texas Hill Country, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The grounds are filled with flowing waterfalls, pristine ponds, and grand old oak trees.
Although the castle is ideal for a multitude of occasions, weddings are definitely the most popular event held here. The bridal suite is absolutely beautiful and serves as a perfect place to spend the first night as a married couple.
The outdoor brick courtyard boasts an incredible fountain that's sure to add an elegant flair to any event, whether it is a wedding reception, corporate dinner party, weekend getaway with friends, or anything in between.
Also outside is a gorgeous gazebo, flourishing rose bushes, towering oak trees, and magnificent peacocks wandering about. I can't imagine a more picturesque setting to tie the knot in, can you?
Dance the night away underneath twinkling lights and perhaps even take a dip in the hot tub before retiring to one of five luxurious bedrooms. You'll fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow — that's a guarantee.
And, of course, you'll get to experience the most breathtaking views you've ever seen. It feels like you're looking out over the entire world when you stand atop a hill in Central Texas.
The castle is located at 12615 E Fm 1431, Marble Falls, TX 78654. Have you ever been to Smythwick Castle? What about any of these other castles in Texas?
