These 8 Hidden Texas Beaches Are Perfect For An End-Of-Summer Getaway

With summer drawing to a close, it’s time to spend as much time in the sun as possible. Unfortunately, the entire coastline is usually packed this month with tourists trying to squeeze out every last drop of the season. That’s exactly why we’re bringing you a list of eight little-known beaches in Texas that are hardly ever busy, so you can enjoy one last peaceful vacation before returning to reality.
Located just an hour from Houston and near the city of Freeport, Surfside is an escape from reality without straying too far from home. With quirky houses lining the sandbar and miles of empty shore, it's the perfect place to spend a much needed self-care day full of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Although natural beaches are more our style here in Texas, I think we can all agree Little Elm doesn't look man-made at all. It seems to stretch into oblivion, providing a home for birds to float on the water's surface and ride into the picturesque sunset. And with no boat traffic allowed, the little ones can frolic around with no cause for concern.
This privately-owned island near Port Aransas is truly an oasis. It's 21 miles of largely undisturbed beach and boasts some of the best fishing + birding around. And if you enjoy collecting seashells by the seashore, boy are you in luck! You can pick up all sorts of neat finds like sand dollars and starfish.
One of Corpus Christi's best hidden gems, this 60-mile stretch of snow white sand is seldom overrun with tourists. The first four miles don't allow any vehicle traffic, letting visitors truly escape from all elements of modern life and get in touch with nature. Whether you're looking to do some water sports or simply dive into a good book while listening to waves gently crashing against the shore, you won't find a more relaxing place than Malaquite Beach.
Measuring in at only 1.5 miles, you just might miss this little beach if you blink too long. It's perfect for those who need a safe haven away from the busier beaches, and it's also an entrance to the Padre Island Seawall!
Situated on the northernmost point of Mustang Island, this peaceful spot is just minutes away from all the restaurants and other activities in Port Aransas. It also has a pier with plenty of places to eat and other fun activities, so it's basically the closest thing we have to Santa Monica here in Texas.
Not to be confused with North Packery Beach, this hideaway to the south is much less crowded. It's most well-known for having some of the best jetty fishing around, so don't forget your poles!
North Texas doesn't have much in the way of beaches (obviously), but state parks that resemble them are a close second. With limestone cliffs surrounding the crystal-clear water, you'll swear you were on a faraway tropical island.
