Ice cream is a must to combat the sweltering Texas summer heat, and nothing beats the real stuff – AKA homemade with love as a main ingredient. Happy Scoops in Burnet is the epitome of small-town charm, and all of its ice cream flavors are churned in-house.
Happy Scoops is the definition of unassuming, hiding in a downtown Burnet storefront easily missed if you’re not actively seeking it out. Make sure to keep your eyes peeled, because this family-owned ice cream shop more than makes up in flavor what its underwhelming exterior lacks.
Upon walking in, you’ll instantly be met with smiling faces behind the counter. Colorful decor and old-fashioned wooden furniture gives off a distinct retro vibe that transports you straight back to yesteryear.
"Come for the ice cream, stay for the atmosphere" is the motto at Happy Scoops - and it’s easy to understand why. You could spend hours studying all the paintings and vintage signs, letting hours tick by without even noticing.
In terms of the ice cream itself, all of the nearly one-dozen flavors are homemade. While the exact recipe is a family secret, we can assure you love is one of the main ingredients.
Rocky road, cookie dough, mint chip, and coffee are just several of the menu options. For those with simple taste buds, you won’t find a better chocolate, vanilla, or strawberry anywhere else.
Toppings include nuts, candy, and drizzles of chocolate and caramel. Happy Scoops even makes homemade cones, which receive nothing but rave reviews by loyal patrons and tourists alike. Brownie sundaes and banana splits are also offered if you have a major sweet tooth that needs satisfying.
