When it comes to fall flavors, are you team apple or team pumpkin? Personally, I can’t choose – I’ll never turn down a caramel apple, but something about a slice of pumpkin pie with homemade whipped cream comforts me to my core. Thanks to the Halloween-themed menu in Texas at La Casita Bakeshop, however, we don’t have to choose one or the other. All throughout October, you’ll see apple, pumpkin, and tons of other spooktacular treats that will get you in the holiday spirit.
Located in Richardson, the unassuming La Casita Bakeshop has received numerous accolades since the storefront opened in 2019.
Owner Marisca Trejo was even nominated for a James Beard Award in 2022 and competed in the Food Network's Halloween Baking Championship that same year.
The store is sleek, stylish, and absolutely beautiful inside, and it has a laidback, coffee shop-style vibe that makes you feel right at home.
With a menu that changes every month, La Casita specializes in handcrafted, one-of-a-kind treats that are just as pleasing to the eyes as they are to the taste buds.
Oogie Boogie tart, anyone? These decadent desserts are filled with hazelnut praline, brown butter chocolate chip cookie butter, dark chocolate ganache, sprinkled with Oreo 'dirt', and topped with an Oogie Boogie Meringue.
For the uninitiated, a cruffin is a cross between a muffin and a croissant, and the result is a moist, flaky, melt-in-your-mouth treat that you'll fall in love with after just one bite. Murder Cruffins are raspberry-filled and oh-so-delicious.
Oh, and don't forget to stock up on Pan de Muerto for Day of the Dead!
Past offerings have included sweet potato casserole cruffins, pumpkin flan cake with Baharat whipped cream, and cranberry cardamom bars. We can't wait to see what this year brings!

Have you ever tried the Halloween-themed menu in Texas at La Casita Bakeshop? If so, we’d love to hear all about your experience in the comments. And if you need a place to stay in the area, I definitely recommend Hotel ZaZa in Dallas. It’s so chic and stylish, and the amenities are top-notch.
