Outside of work, you can likely find her curled up on with a hot cup of coffee, practicing yoga, baking, or exploring the beautiful Lone Star State (in particular, the vast and mystical West Texas desert).
Whether we’re talking about food or family bonding activities, variety is the spice of life. Why not try something a bit different on your next outing and head to Wimberley Glassworks? This public glassblowing studio offers live demonstrations and even hands-on classes where you can pick up the torch and create a beautiful masterpiece.
Since 1992, this unique and artistic building has been Texas' premier hand-blown glass studio. Everything from exclusive light fixtures to jewelry is made here, and no two pieces are alike.
Before even watching the glassblowing process, you'll get to see the finished product. Pieces of every shape, size, and color are displayed in a breathtaking gallery sure to instantly captivate all who behold it.
Upon entering the actual studio, pay close attention to the chalkboard above the furnace. It's full of fun facts, including how glass is blown at a whopping 2100 degrees Fahrenheit!
Live demonstrations are held Wednesday-Sunday in a spacious room that seats 75 people. It's a great way for newbies to dip their toes into the glassblowing waters, and it's truly a treat for all to watch these talented artists at work.
When you're ready to be part of the action, sign up for the next Glass Class. These hands-on glassblowing workshops are held all throughout the year, each one featuring a different item like paperweights or Valentine's Day hearts. You'll be guided every step of the way, so don't be nervous!
Alternatively, you can select a piece and watch it come to life by an expert glassblower's hand. Selections are limited to vases, bowls, and sculptures, all of which make the perfect gift for someone special in your life (even if that person is yourself!).
You can even purchase art pieces from the studio's online store. The inventory is ever-changing, so your home could undergo quite a transformation over time!
