Visit The Ruins Of An Abandoned WWI Fort Near Galveston, Texas
If you’re a war history enthusiast, there’s a place in Texas that deserves a top spot on your bucket list. Fort Travis Seashore Park is home to a former World War I and II fort that once housed thousands of troops, and it’s truly an incredible destination.

It was completed in 1899 and garrisoned troops defending the Port of Galveston and its approaches during World War I.

It could now hold up to 2,500 troops as well as several types of guns - everything from anti-aircraft to 16-inch-long range rifles.
