Here in Texas, we live for historic restaurants with a charm that you can feel immediately upon entrance. Fort Davis Drug Store & Hotel is one such place, with its hearty meals, nostalgic decor, and old-fashioned soda fountain, all in a building dating to 1913.

Nestled along the 75-mile Davis Mountains Scenic Loop, Fort Davis Drug Store was first opened over 100 years ago inside the historic Hotel Limpia. It served as a pharmacy, doctor's office, newspaper pickup spot, and soda fountain from 1913 until the early 1980s.
Today, the drug store sits across the street from its original location. Despite changing hands several times, the decor and overall ambiance have remained largely the same -- right down to the 22-foot soda fountain.
Grab a seat wherever you'd like, either at the counter or one of many wooden booths. The former showcases an array of vintage signs guaranteed to evoke a sense of nostalgia in all who lay eyes on them.
As for the menu, rest-assured there's something for everyone. From hearty breakfast options to juicy burgers, mile-high club sandwiches to crispy fried okra, the options are truly endless. Nobody leaves the table hungry!
Texas favorites like chicken-fried steak and hamburger steak are also solid choices. Dinner plates are accompanied by a vegetable, salad bar trip, and your choice of potato (mashed, baked with all the fixins, wedges, or sweet potato fries.)
You simply can't visit an old-fashioned soda fountain without getting dessert. Pick your favorite ice cream flavor and step back in time with a hand-churned milkshake or malt, float, or banana split. Quench your thirst with a soda made using real sugar syrup!
Before heading out, peruse the general store for a bit to pick up some souvenirs. From kitschy gift items to homemade treats and everything in-between, there are plenty of mementos to remember your visit by.
