We Texans take our BBQ very seriously, and Black Board Bar B Q in Sisterdale is no exception. This unassuming restaurant dishes out some of the best burnt ends in Texas – they’re so good, in fact, that they sell out before anything else on the menu! After just one bite of these tender, juicy, and crispy-on-the-outside morsels of meat, you’ll be a loyal customer forever.

You'd never expect some of the best BBQ in Texas to be hiding inside this little red barn, but it is.
Nestled 13 miles north of Boerne in the unincorporated farming and ranching community of Sisterdale, Black Board Bar B Q is consistently ranked among the top BBQ joints in the state - and for good reason. Upon entering the restaurant, you'll instantly be taken with the quaint, cozy atmosphere (and the always-friendly service).
As far as the menu goes, smoked meats are, of course, the stars of the show. From beef brisket smoked low and slow to jalapeno-cheddar sausage to pulled pork, there is something to satisfy every appetite here.
If you're looking to have the full Black Board experience, however, you simply must try their burnt ends. For the uninitiated, burnt ends are little morsels of deliciousness made from the fatty end of a brisket. The fat melts as the meat cooks, resulting in a tender, juicy, and crispy-on-the-outside bite that will send your taste buds straight to heaven.
There is a catch, however - if you want in on the burnt ends action, you'd best arrive early (or call in your order ahead of time). These bad boys sell out before any other menu item, so if you may be out of luck if you don't plan accordingly.
Don't fill up on the meat too much - the scrumptious sides are also worth trying. From garlic parmesan truffle fries to buttermilk-fried quail knots to macaroni and cheese to toasted sesame coleslaw, the unique, innovative offerings pair perfectly with the BBQ.
Occasionally, the restaurant even offers specials that riff off of their traditional burnt ends recipe. For example, these are peach-glazed pork belly burnt ends that were served for Sunday brunch.
