Streaming services are great, but nothing will ever compare to the nostalgic experience of sitting in a movie theater. Beyond Cinema, an Australian-based film production company, has created an innovative solution that allows us to watch our favorite movies in a safe way. Known as the “floating cinema,” this fleet of private boats is coming to Austin for one week only in September. There will be snacks, drinks, and a big screen showing both first-run and classic films.
This fall, Floating Cinema is coming to Austin for one week only. From September 23-27, you can enjoy both nostalgic and first-run movies in a socially distanced "theater" of boats.
The cinema will consist of 12-24 boats, each holding up to eight people. You must purchase the entire boat to ensure only friends and family sit together.
Additional snacks and beverages will be available for purchase before the boats set sail. Munch on your favorite candy and sip a cold drink while enjoying the show.
Tickets aren't on sale just yet, but you can sign up to get notified as soon as they are. The event is pre-registration only, so tickets won't be available at the door and must be purchased online.
