If flying down a hillside as the wind whips your hair around is your idea of a good time, add Camp Fimfo in New Braunfels to your bucket list. The luxury campground recently unveiled its newest addition: the first and only alpine coaster in Texas! Equal parts scenic and thrilling, this epic adventure is fun for the whole family.
Texas' first and only alpine coaster is officially open at Camp Fimfo in New Braunfels, and it offers the adventure of a lifetime.
Camp Fimfo has two locations in the Lone Star State; the other is in Waco. The luxury campground offers resort-style amenities, including top-of-the-line accommodations, on-site restaurants, scheduled activities, and so much more, so campers get to enjoy a five-star getaway experience instead of having to "rough it."
The alpine coaster, known as the "Cliff Carver," is one such perk that sets Camp Fimfo apart from all other campgrounds like it. Opened in February 2023, this thrilling ride takes passengers zooming down the side of a hill for nearly one full mile.
While the Cliff Carver looks and sounds like a roller coaster, there is one key difference: manual brakes. Unlike a typical amusement park ride, passengers can control the speed of their descent. Take it slow, or reach 25 miles per hour by letting gravity take the wheel.
Kids as young as three can take a ride on the Cliff Carver, so it's definitely more fun than heart-pounding. Plus, you get to take in the gorgeous Hill Country scenery on the way down!
Other activities at Camp Fimfo include a waterpark, mini golf, spa tubs, yard games, 1,000 feet of Guadalupe River frontage, and more. A zipline is also in the works! You could easily take a week-long vacation here and still not experience everything the campground has to offer!
