Not only are they timeless, but for many, they also evoke happy childhood memories of frolicking through carnivals, chomping down on cotton candy without a care in the world. Several antique carousels in Texas offer a peek into the past, however the oldest of them all can be found at Fireman’s Park in Brenham. It only costs $1 per rider, and it’s sure to make you feel like a kid again.

A legendary toymaker by the name of Charles W. Dare made the horses, while C.W. Parker manufactured the carousel itself.

It was discovered by a Mr. Hugh Durden in 1930 in the small town of Clay, Texas, left behind by a carnival that couldn't afford rent for the land during the Great Depression.
Protected from the elements, it has - and will continue to - offer an old-fashioned good time that delights Brenham residents of all ages.
You'll see several signs that detail the history of both the Flying Horses Carousel and carousels in general, allowing you to have fun and learn something at the same time.
Everyone 13 and up must either stand next to a horse or ride in one of the gondolas.
