There are plenty of fall hikes in the Lone Star State that showcase the foliage in an astounding way. If you’re looking for something a bit different, however, a fall foliage boat ride in Texas just may fit the bill. This cruise on Lake Buchanan leads to a series of cascading waterfalls surrounded by trees that take on the most breathtaking hues during autumn.
Since 1981, Vanishing Texas River Cruises has been sailing the waters of beautiful Lake Buchanan and taking guests along for the ride.
Several different tours are available, all sharing one common goal: to showcase the unparalleled beauty of the Highland Lakes Region of the iconic Texas Hill Country.
Boat rides are offered year-round, with the Scenic Wilderness Cruise being the most popular.
Both an upper and lower deck allow guests to spread out, and there are covered areas that offer a respite in the event of inclement weather or extreme temperatures.
Fall foliage peaks at different times each year, so while we can't make a blanket recommendation, November is usually a safe bet (since Texas is in the southern U.S., the most brilliant hues typically show up later in the season).
Visit the Vanishing Texas River Cruise website or Facebook page for more information, such as tour dates, times, and prices.
