While Bend Bend undoubtedly deserves all the recognition it gets, the other mountain parks in Texas are often overlooked as a result. One such place is Davis Mountains State Park, boasting rich history and beautiful nature all in one. Marvel at the dark skies, set off on the miles of trails, and visit a nearby frontier fort. Plus, there is a 39-room motel, Indian Lodge, located on park grounds, and it's complete with a restaurant and swimming pool. Parts of the adobe structure were built by the CCC, and it's storied past makes it an incredibly unique place to rest up before starting the long drive back home.
