There’s nothing like visiting a German Christmas market in Texas when the holiday season rolls around, and the Tomball German Festival Christmas Market is definitely one of our favorites. Taking place December 8-10, 2023, this highly anticipated event features traditional German music and dancing, fun contests, over 150 vendors, delicious food and drinks, and – of course – a massive Christmas tree and the big man in the red suit himself. If you’re looking for an excuse to get in the holiday spirit (or stay there if you’re already feeling festive), this is it, folks.
Come one, come all to the Tomball German Festival Christmas Market, which takes place December 8-10, 2023 near the Historical Train Depot Plaza in downtown Tomball. The event is an extension of the annual Tomball German Festival, held every year in the spring.
Both admission and parking are totally free, which means you can save your cash to use on the incredible vendors. There’s always a vast and varied selection of booths, with local artisans offering everything from homemade food items to unique gifts for each person on your list.
Not one, not two, not three, but four live music stages keep the fun going all day long. Throw on a pair of lederhosen, sing and dance to traditional German tunes, and have an all-around great time.
There are also several contests that are fun for all ages, including a yodeling contest, a chicken dance contest, and the much-adored bier stein hoist contest.
Costumes are not required, but if you do want to dress the part, it definitely makes the experience more fun (in my opinion, at least). And don’t forget to bring a good camera to document the wonderful time you’ll inevitably have.
Have you ever attended the Tomball German Festival Christmas Market? If so, we’d love to hear all about your experience in the comments! Don’t forget to check out our previous article to learn about a local bakery, Manna – Bread From Heaven, where you can get the most delicious scratch-made treats.
